How To Find a Scrappledood
Step One
Scrappledoods are attracted to bright colors. Gather all your scraps of yarn that are too short to be used in any normal crochet pattern. Make sure you have lots of different colors! (Buttons and fabric scraps may be handy too.)
Step Two
Get a pair of scissors, a size F crochet hook, a glue gun, and some stuffing material. These tools are essential for serious Scrappledood attraction.
Step Three
Follow these instructions, and you are sure to attract a nearby Scrappledood in no time!
Body
Work in continuous rounds. Starts at the top of the body. Use various yarn scraps, changing colors as needed throughout the pattern.
1) Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd st from hook (6).
2) 2 sc in each st around (12).
3) (Sc, 2 sc in next st) 6 times (18).
4) (Sc in each of next 2 st, 2 sc in next st) 6 times (24).
5 - 10) Sc in each st around. After last st of rnd 10, join w/ sl st.
11) Work this rnd in back loops: (Sc next 2 st together, sc) 8 times (16). Stuff.
12) (Sc next 2 st together) 9 times, skip next st, sl st. Stuff more, fasten off. Weave end into body.
Dooples and Deeps
Scrappledoods can have 2 types of appendages: thick, twirly tentacles called Dooples and thin, straight limbs called Deeps. Some have many, some have few. Some have one type, and some have both types.
Doople
Ch 20, sc in 3rd st from hook. (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 st) all the way down. Fasten off, leaving yarn ends. Attach to body by weaving ends through 1 hole,
putting a dab of hot glue on the hole and between the ends, then pull ends tight. Stuff ends into body. Ch more or less for longer or shorter Dooples.
Deep
Ch 12, sl st in 3rd st from hook and in each st all the way down. Fasten off. Attach same way as Doople. Ch more or less for longer or shorter Deeps.
Mouth and Eyes
Scrappledoods can have 1 to 3 eyes, and may or may not have a mouth. These can be made with buttons, yarn, fabric scraps, etc. Whatever suits its personality. Attach with glue gun.
